Its nice to be home from a 4 day get away! I missed my kids terribly and from the sound of there screams and glees, they missed us. I found a few great shops in Sun Valley that I will be blogging about soon.
Ahhhhh, home!

As I start on projects (lucky for my family, many projects) around my house I begin to daydream about the layout of my rooms, wake up in the middle of the night with lots of ideas, stop at the magazine aisle to soak in interior pictures and stare out my car window wondering if the chair should go in this corner or that corner. The funnest project for me is going to be my bedroom. I could design and redesign bedrooms all day long. I always consider longevity and trends in my design. Will an artichoke lamp chandelier really be in style 3 years from now? Can an ikea chest stand the test of time? So much to think about but it all makes my heart pitter patter. My style for my own bedroom tends to lean more towards feminine bohemian glamour and my husband doesnt seem to mind so I am going to run with it for this next design. I will keep all of you posted with lots of pics and commentaries about this project!!

Swedish decorator Isabelle Halling has a fun eye for design. I love her use of color and her use of scale. Here is a taste of her portfolio.

I switch out my throw pillows very frequently. Probably to much but its the easiest way to change a room. I always like my big pieces of furniture to be nuetral and my pillows, art and accessories tend to be the color anchors of my rooms.
I found a variety of pillows for you to browse thru.

Mix of styles
This is a great example of pillows adding color to a room. These Designers Guild pillows are gorgeous! ( I heart that mirror) Living Etc.

Beautiful pieces of furniture show themselves as pieces of art. I would much rather have a gorgeous Chaise then a hung portrait but thats just me (not you)!
I also think its fun to have inexpensive pieces mixed with higher end pieces. Take a look at some of these higher end and inexpensive pieces I have found.

Lamps are a must have accessory and yellow is a great color of the season. Put them together and you have created an oohlala!

Moroso has been around since 1952 so you know the pieces are of high quality and they will always be of great value. Moroso makes sofas, armchairs and accessories and have worked with well-known designers like Ron Arad and Marc Newson. This sofa by Marcel Wanders with its strong colors, high back, damasked pattern and squared pattern definitely caught my eye. I can picture it in an all white room….Hmmmm

Well, soon and very soon I am going to post my top 20 favorite Interior Designers of all time. (Not that my opinion counts for anything. It is still fun!) I have an idea of who will fill each spot but if you think you know of someone full of talent or unknown that would blow my socks off then send me a link!
Here is a preview of the list to come….

Jay Jeffers was named one of House Beautifuls Top 100 designers of 2005. He has been featured in dozens of publications and has a loaded portfolio. You will have to wait and see if he made it on my (so worth the wait but so not important :) list! (I am pretty sure Kelly Wearstler made it.)

Pink Wallpaper (fabulous blog) just did a post about Julian Chichester so I went and checked out the site and low and behold I found THESE ITEMS! For some reason it was love at first site for all of them! The company is based out of North Carolina and has been featured in several magazines including Elle Decor and House Beautiful.

Jesus Gasca introduced the Globus Chair in 1994 and it quickly became a design classic. It is used in restaurants, residential rooms, public places and most recently was installed as the seating at Santiago Calatrava’s new pavilion at the Milwaukee Art Museum. (I would love to visit there some day!) I love the curves on this chair. I think its the perfect restaurant chair! Bravo.

Sidenote- In 2002 Options Magazine said that the 3 essentials in creating a great dining experience is the Globus chair, the Milano table and the classic Arco floor lamp.
