One of my favorite things about this bedroom makeover is the green accent wall. I chose Olympic Range from Sherwin Williams. I have been wanting to do a deep green accent wall for forever. And trying to find the perfect green is a tough gig. This one is my favorite thus far!!

It’s deep enough enough to be moody but colorful enough to be dramatic. I’m going to be put some black and white art on this wall as well as displaying a modern white chair in front. It’s gonna look fantastic!!

Another fun element in the room will be this Cole & Son wallpaper from Decorators Best. Peonies are always a winner in my book. And this particular paper slays me with the color choices. I still haven’t fully decided what I will do with it.

Check out Week OneWeek Two, and Week Three and check back next Wednesday for WEEK FIVE’s update! We will be talking paint colors and wallpaper! And make sure to check out the other bloggers participating in this challenge, listed below. Also follow along on Instagram using#oneroomchallenge

Cotton and Flax via Simply Grove
I’m a sucker for pillows and tea towels. So when I was introduced to Cotton & Flax, I jumped for joy! Cotton & Flax is a line of handmade textile home goods from designer Erin Dollar. Every piece in the collection is cut, printed, and sewn in Los Angeles, CA.

Chair, Wall Side Shelf, Sconces, Side Table, Floor Lamp.

Week three of the One Room Challenge and we’re talking about some added accessories and furniture pieces. (Check out Week One and Week Two.) Details make or break a space. Because I want to create a minimal yet sophisticated space, I chose light, airy pieces that don’t interfere with the space. Straight lines and simple tones can be matched with rich colors and textures.

I love using wall sconces instead of table lamps for either sides of the bed. I chose this Schoolhouse sconce and then mixed up the side tables by using a floor table and a wall shelf. It will be a fun change up!

I’m starting to get really excited to start on the installation! It’s going to be sweeeeeeeeeet.

Happy Monday! Let’s start the week with a fun modern family house tour. This Scandinavian apartment is on trend, fun and relaxed. Makes for a great family space! The patterned wallpaper is a pop of personality in this clean, white space. Here are a  few details that make this home awesome-

1. Mix of woods.

2. Poster art.

3. Black grout in the kitchen.

4. An infusion of grey, black, white, natural materials and pops of color.

5. Books.

6. Art leaned against the wall as apposed to hung on the wall.

Have a great day!!

Kitchens are always on my mind. Mostly because they are my absolute favorite room to style and design. There’s so much that you can do in a kitchen. From kitchen organization to styling to creating stylish zones that help with your everyday use of the kitchen. One topic that comes up often with clients is how much is too much on the counter? I think it depends on who you are and how you live your life. I’m a minimalist so I tend to keep a little less on my counter. Here are a few things that I can’t live without on my counter-

1. Toaster Over. We use this for a lot of things. And it’s white so it blends in.

2. Wooden Cutting Boars. You can stack them against your backsplash so they don’t take up counter space.

3. Plants. Because they’re so pretty.

4. Wooden Utensils. They’re stylish and practical.

5. Juicer. I juice every.day.

6. A tray of cooking oils and spices. They are also used everyday.

Last year Matt Pipkin, who founded Speak Your Silence, launched The Stitch which is designed to help move the issue of child sexual abuse from a taboo topic to a cause people love and supportBest part: 100% of profits go toward providing free counseling to individuals affected by the issue. It’s a life changing nonprofit that is worth supporting!

Matt recently sent over some images of his studio, which is located in Boise. This world changing guy also has quite the eye for design. The table is the first thing that caught my eye. It’s a pine wood beam from an old store at the Mountain Home Air Base (Southeast of Boise), which was built in the 50’s. The ceilings used to have popcorn which was scraped and repainted.

Matt built the shelves himself. The floors are plywood from Home Depot cut down into 8′ wide planks, sanded, and painted with a 1 part paint/2 parts water mix, coated with clear Verathane. The brick wall used to be the exterior of a local building, the Pioneer Tent Building, and the billboard was signage over the back parking lot of a Packard Car dealer.

It’s week two of the One Room Challenge. Last week I shared a peek into my plan for redoing my assistant Janna’s bedroom. Since then we have cleared out the bedroom. It’s the perfect white space, ready for color, texture and some fun personality. Like I said before, this room has an amazing amount of natural light. There are 5 windows that line two of the walls. I’m pretty sure no one could ever sleep late in the mornings!

I mentioned that I am painting the main wall a dark color. The color itself takes my breathe away. I am a huge fan of one dark wall in a sea of white. It creates the coolest mood in a space. On this wall, I will be displaying some great art from Minted. Below are my choices.

Another important detail in the room is the rug situation. When it came down to it, I chose the Allegra rug from Oliver Yaphe. I love that it’s handwoven and 100% cotton. And the hexagon shapes are right on point. The only thing is, I haven’t chosen the color that I want to use yet. It’s between lavender and seafoam. I am going to test both in the room once it’s completed.

If you were to choose which rug color, what would you decide??

BEFORE

Hi friends! I’m excited to be participating in the One Room Challenge. Over the next six weeks, twenty Interior Design bloggers will completely transform a room from start to finish, blogging progress updates every Wednesday. The One Room Challenge was started a few years ago by Linda of Calling it Home. It’s a fantastic idea that I am thrilled to be apart of! So here’s the breakdown of my ORC-

Client- My assistant, Janna.

Room- Master Bedroom.

Challenges- Small yet quaint space.

Features- Lots of windows and natural light.

Needs- Updated furniture. Fresh, modern colors. Art. New bedding and accessories.

Below is a peek of what I’m planning to do. It’s going to be a fresh and clean space with lots of artistic details and beautiful textiles. One key element will be a striking, deep, accent wall that will hopefully take our breathes away!

There is one whole area of the studio that I use for photo shoots. I placed diamond wall panels from Wall Dimensions on the north side of that area. I wanted something that would give dimension to the white walls since the south side of that area is boring and has no furniture or decor. With a little styling of old and new pieces, it became a stylish wall.

The next part of my studio is the working zone. You’ve already seen my desk that my hubby built. I don’t think that I can ever get rid of it. The size and height is perfect.

Another brilliant thing to note in my office is this incredible magnetic wall system. The uniquely designed MagWall™ Panel System is a modular solution to organize your entire workspace. In an office, or any space really, the MagWall™ will create space to organize your work visually. With STRONG magnets, there are no holes in your art or pictures, and because magnets come in different strengths, they can hang heavier items like coats, hats, and keys….seriously. I only post products that I truly believe in and this is one of those products. I can create a moodboard for my clients in seconds! I can also layout what I need for the day in seconds. It’s a game changer people, a game changer! Check out their Kickstarter here.

We’ve lived in our Bungalow for 7 months now and I’m finally settling in to my basement studio. We painted the entire room white a few months. And what a difference it made! I chose Sherwin Williams Extra White on the walls. It immediately created the ambiance that I need for this space.
