Designer Series {India Hicks}…

WSJ and Design Tripper

We are starting a new series here on Simply Grove. I’ve had the opportunity to chat with some celebrated designers and other influential individuals over the past few months. Each individual has given me some great insight into design and I’m excited to share these experiences with you. This first individual excites me to no end!

I had the pleasure of chatting with India Hicks, former host for Bravo’s TV Series Top Design. London raised, India moved to New York in her late teens to pursue her dreams of modeling and photography. India currently lives in the Bahamas and continues to wow with her all natural inspired home decor, jewelry, clothing, and fragrance line.

Lonny and Design Tripper

Her seventeen years of island living inspired her HSN collection to have an organic, natural and dynamic feel. She consistently enjoys changing her own home decor, but stayed away from interior design for many years because of her family’s celebrated history in interior design.

When asking her what home decor trends were popping up this season, her obvious response was she loves everything that feels “right” and having exceptional furniture is so important, rather than over-decorating to compensate.

India’s go to accent color might surprise us all. She has a passion for pink. Specifically salmon, soft pink hues, and shocking pink, and most often mixes shades of pink with grays for an elegant aesthetic.

Modern and very traditional is her design style of choice and which she feels most comfortable in because of her father influence on their homes as a child.

When asked how closely home and fashion design co-exist she believes they are strongly related in every way and both aspects of design should come back and present to each other.

Check out her latest collection India Hicks Island Living at HSN. Above are a few of my favorite items.

1. Pillow 2. Hand Soap 3. Art 4. Blankets 5. Candle Holders
