Last year, Simply Grove was blessed enough to have one of the best individuals on our team. Kayla Smasne is not only as smart as they come and beyond responsible but is a dedicated design enthusiast who will go places with her amazing aesthetic. Kayla lives in a smaller apartment with great natural light. A few months back we started brainstorming a redesign for her living room and dining room. She started by painting the entire space Extra White from Sherwin Williams. This instantly opened the space up and gave her the perfect backdrop for color and pattern. From there she added gold polka dots from Urban Walls in the dining room. Who needs wallpaper when you can create the same look with temporary decals! Colonial Mills created a custom rug for this project to place in the dining room. We were able to choose the colors and patterns. It was such a fun process and it turned out exactly how Kayla wanted!
Kayla did a great job mixing old and new. The dining room table was actually a table that I inherited from the Brass Razoo days. Kayla paired it with modern dining chairs. She also mixed an Ikea sofa with a vintage mid century coffee table. And who doesn’t love a glittery Bourgie lamp?!? Her home just proves that you can create a space on a budget and fill it with old and new to still get a modernized look.
