My Bedroom

Kirsten Grove Bedroom

Hi friends! This past Friday I shared my bedroom makeover on Martha Stewarts Instagram (here, here and here). I took our small space and tried to create cozy, serene bedroom. The dark wall makes the gold sconces from Schoolhouse Electric pop against the black.

I found some awesome vintage floral prints at a local antique shop, which look great against the black. Also, I love the grid pillow from Pencil Me In, sold on Society6.

Now lets talk about this quilt….HELLO! It’s my favorite detail in the room. You will find these contemporary quilts at Louise Gray. I chose No. 3 because of the peach and navy. I’m obsessed with both of these colors! I really do recommend these quilts for any home!

Because we live in a 1947 bungalow, storage is non existent. So we created some storage that can be seen and not ugly to the naked eye. For example, I took a rolling clothing rack and displayed all of my hanging shirts. I color coordinated them so that it looks a little more stylish. And it actually helps me to pick out what I want to wear when it’s all color coordinated.

And finally, I was able to frame an art piece that my daughter created with Framed & Matted EXPRESS. A new custom framing option, Framed & Matted EXPRESS offers custom frames at an amazing low price for simple framing needs. You choose between 4 frame sizes, 2 frame colors and a custom cut mat to fit your need. It’s brilliant and EASY!

  1. Looks quite nice!

I have one question: I am thinking about painting my bedroom in just the same colors. Is the whole wall behind your bed darkgrey or did you left some offwhite around?

  2. It was very useful for me. Keep sharing such ideas in the future as well. This was actually what I was looking for, and I am glad to came here! Thanks for sharing the such information with us.

  3. Hi !
I just fell upon your website and the beautiful decor in the bedroom. I’ve just returned from a Farrow & Ball showroom to ask their advice on painting my bed wall in dark blue or similar, leaving the other 3 walls and large wardrobe white. They advised that it’d mean having white curtains (which I’m not too enthralled about) otherwise it would break the perspective. Instead they advised painting the whole room, including the wardrobe, in the dark color of my choice, thereafter using beiges or softer colours to accessorize. I’m completely lost now, my main priority being to adapt the colour scheme to two beautiful gold pendants lamps on either side of my bed. For info., I have a glass oblong panel on the wall at the end of my bed separating the living-room. You’re advice was be SO helpful.

  4. Hi Alison!

Yes, I agree with them! I think painting the entire room would be absolutely gorgeous!! I think you may be able to leave the wardrobe white, but everything painted dark would be stunning. Especially with the two pendants!
