I mentioned last week that I was going to give my dining room a fresh makeover. Well, voila, here it is! I am so happy with how this room transformed into a mid-century/art deco friendly dining room. And because it’s hot right now in Boise (SO HOT) we appreciate using this room for late night dinners and game nights. Just yesterday, we entertained some friends and had the funnest taco night. It was refreshing to take a break from the heat. And of course, it’s always great to spend these moments with friends and family. That is why entertaining is so important to me. I’m creating these rooms more for others than myself.
This room has a few details that I have loved since we moved into this home. First off, it has two skylights that allow natural sunlight to brighten the space. The second detail that I love is that though it’s right off of the kitchen, it still feels like its own area. So when I styled this room, it was really easy to enhance everything. With the help of Overstock, I created exactly what I wanted!
I have wanted a brass chandelier and have been on the hunt for the perfect one for awhile now. Right when I found this chandelier, I became smitten and knew that it would look fantastic in this space! I wanted to pair the gold with something a little more masculine, and these brown leather chairs are the perfect option and juxtaposition for the light.
Speaking of the perfect option, say hello to my dream rug!! This multi wool rug has the most beautiful combination of colors. The wool brings tons of texture in this room and I love the pop of patterns. We have our breakfast nook, which is where my kids and their friends eat most of the time. That’s why I wasn’t worried about bringing in a rug to this room. No mess and and no wear and tear. And talk about a dream to have my feet on a fluffy rug! I could literally play games in this space all.night.long.
I love having good servingware and dinnerware on hand for dinners and parties. These stoneware dishes are life to me! They are durable yet beautiful. You can mix them with monochromatic and colorful accents. One thing to note is that you can pair stoneware with normal dinnerware. I love mixing stoneware and white!
I also used the smaller serving bowl on the small credenza. I love how it looks with the abstract art and iron statue.
I am thrilled with how this room transformed! It’s exactly what I’ve wanted.
