2017 was a year of renovations for our home. We’re not done, but we’ve made a lot of progress! We finished our master bathroom, master closet, powder bathroom and man cave. We also started painting our outside, which you can see on my Instagram. (And if you remember, the year before we did other stuff too!) Another room that we finished this summer was our master bedroom. It didn’t need a ton of work, but it definitely needed some updating. You can see below that it was a very dark room before we moved in.
The previous owner painted the walls a bright creamy yellow, which made the room feel small. The baseboards needed some cleaning up, the fan needed to go bye bye, and the doors needed to be switched out. Not much, but enough to make a big impact.
It’s amazing what a fresh coat of white paint can do. Even Bear agrees! We actually painted the room in 2016, but updated the doors, lighting and window treatments this past Summer. I can’t tell you how important it is to me to have a relaxing master bedroom. I preach this to my clients constantly. When you have a master bedroom that you’re proud of and able to relax in, you will sleep better, which ultimately makes us all better humans!
For the bedroom makeover, I teamed up with Rove Concepts to give this room a slick, laid back vibe. I chose the Asher Collection, which had me at hello! I’m not normally a bedroom set type of person, but this collection is just too good! I chose the bed, nightstands and wide dresser. The Asher collection is a beautiful dark-stained walnut veneer, inspired by the design of traditional Danish mid-century masterpieces. The quality is on point and the prices are fantastic. I also chose the Ezra Rug from Rove Concepts for this room. The hand knotted details are stunning!
I mentioned before that we got new doors, which I blogged about awhile back. These Rustica Hardware doors are still my favorite barn style doors on the market. They are clean and modern, which is exactly what I wanted!
For the roller shades, I worked with Claudia Clobes of Urban Loft Window Treatments. She helped choose the perfect shades for my bedroom, and for all of the bedrooms in the house. She made the process super easy for me!
Let me chat for a bit about my bedding, because I’m obsessed with it! The Olive Linen Duvet is from Cultiver. I cannot express enough how soft this linen is! It’s glorious. The Window Pane Sheet Set from Brooklinen is another favorite of mine. Woven from 100% long-staple cotton, these classic sheets are crisp and cool. And to top off the look, this lumbar pillow from The Circular is magic. Because the furniture is matching, I needed the bedding to be mismatched and more organic. It’s all about bringing in those juxtapositions!
For some extra lighting, I chose this Kennedy Floor Lamp from Rove Concept. It’s a nice modern touch, mixed with this vintage painting and regal velvet chair.
This small piece of art on my nightstand was given to me by Spacey Studios.
I am so happy with how my bedroom turned out! It’s the perfect spot to take long Sunday naps, which is a very easy task for me.
