I’ve been bedridden for the past 6 days with a horrible flu. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a fever for 5 straight days! It’s always a bummer to be sick as a mom. My husband has done a fantastic job keeping life going but still as a mom, you want to make sure everything is going how you think it should go, right?? Anyways, it’s nice to feel human again. I’m not even going to look at my to-do list or might vomit.
Speaking of bedridden, the bedroom shown above would be a perfect space to escape the world. It seems bright, relaxing and of course stylish. I’m all for a good napping bed.

I am totally smitten with this home, photographed by Toby Scott for Est Magazine. It has such a great mix of colors and neutrals. I would love to know where the art is from. GORGEOUS!

In honor of St. Patricks day, I thought a collection of yummy green images would be the perfect Thursday post. Personally, I’m a huge fan of green and could put a little green in every room of my house, not to mention wear green everyday. So cheers to green and cheers to Mr. Saint Patty!

Picking out the perfect wood flooring is a big deal and can sometimes feel daunting. I’m really fond of these watermill white oak with a custom finish floors from Carlisle Wide Plank Floors. They’re a good balance of rustic meets industrial. I bet they hide dirt really well. Below is more wood floor inspiration.

When I started re-doing my office, I had a plan of action for my baroque mirror. I almost gave it away, just because I’m a little over this trend. But after seeing Martha Stewart’s new project paints, I knew that this mirror needed a little copper pick me up. I used the metallic glaze in copper penny and I love the result! It’s super pretty yet a little edgy and it fits in with my office design perfectly! I’m also a huge fan of Martha Stewart Project Paints. They come in 10 oz. jars, which is great because you’re not waisting a bunch of paint. You can choose between crackle, glitter, metallic glaze, metallic, textured metallic and terra cotta and they all come in a variety of colors. I’m pretty sure that I need to try glitter next!

So if you have a mirror or a frame that needs a little re-do, try this! You’ll love it.

Rugs can change the entire look of a room. They bring warmth, character and life to any space. Rugs can also be the most challenging detail to find for a space. It’s either a struggle to find the perfect size or the perfect price, not to mention the perfect material. Below are a few awesome spaces with awesome rugs to match. If you love, I’ve given you similar options, whether in color or pattern, for your own space.

Hi friends. I updated my portfolio a bit and will be updating it more as the weeks follow. I feel like I have pictures scattered all over my computer, flickr, my blog and everywhere else except for displayed where they should be. Better late than never, right??!
On another note, I wanted to give a few of my amazing sponsors a shout out! If you haven’t shopped these sites yet, you MUST!
Mod Pieces- Restyled vintage lighting.
Rove Concepts- Affordable yet amazing furniture.
Lile Sadi- Super cool home accessories and textiles.
Also, I’m restructuring Simply Grove a bit. Some might say, out with the old and in with the new!! Looking over my editorial calendar, I’ve noticed holes. Balancing being a mom and working for myself has proven itself challenging but sooo doable. I say that to say, the more I’m in this role, the more I’ve learned this year and constantly want to grow. SO, you’ll be seeing new columns, more of my voice and hopefully fresh perspectives on design. And PLEASE, if there is anything that you wish to see on SG, let me know! Comment or email me at simplygrove22@gmail.com.
Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you back here next week!

My husband calls me a pillow hoarder. I like to think of it as a friendly passion. To my defense, a great pillow can change the look of a piece of furniture and even the look of a room. My newest pillow comes from Dragon 88. The Biosphere Digital Print Pillow makes a very graphic statement. I love the red and pink hues! It looks great against almost any neutral backdrop and can be paired with lots of colors. The price point is a little higher but remember, you pay for what you get. Filled with down feathers, this pillow is going to last and last.

Sometimes it’s good for the soul to just jump in the air. Especially on Thursdays. You should try it today….:)

I’ve been working on some projects the last few months that have been a bit hush hush. Mostly because of timing, publication possibilities ect. Today I just HAVE to show you a sneak peek of a condo space I worked on a few months back. The owners wanted a mid century/modern space filled with character, warmth and beauty. The entire condo looks amazing but I have to say that my favorite room is the dining room. The mix of woods, colors, metals and textures look eye popping. The entire condo has an abundance of light so it was easy to use tones that need extra sunlight. And can we talk about that map?? I scored it at a small shop that sells quirky industrial products. The price was unbeatable!
I’ll be able to show you more of this space in the future!

Allow me to give a quick shout out to one of my favorite lighting designers that designed these masterpieces in 1930….whaaaaaa??? Robert Dudley Best studied industrial and interior design in Düsseldorf and Paris. During his studies, he designed this lamp collection. Best wanted the collection to symbolise the spirit of the times and setting creating a future movement for lamp design. Today, ten of his lamps are still in production. Timeless and gorgeous describe these lights. It comes to show you that nothing is new under the sun and that a man from the 1930′s is part of a design movement is the 2000′s. Way to be Robert Dudley Best!

I took a day last week and went thrifting, which I already mentioned to you. I really do have a love/hate relationship with thrifting. Somedays I score gems and other days I’m just finding poo poo. I had a mixed day last week. It started out by making me depressed and not wanting to ever hit a thrift shop/consignment store again. But then by the end of the day, thanks to one random store that I had never been to, I found a stash of treasures. It reminded me that it’s all about patience. If I had given up earlier, I wouldn’t have found that awesome gold plated ship that now sits proudly on my office bookshelves or the random cage that was used for fishing and now is used for a decor object. Now, I’m sure that if I lived in a bigger city with more options, it would be a little easier for me but for now it’s a full on treasure hunt. It’s a hunt that I’m not willing to do on a consistent basis.
What about you? Are you an avid thrifter? Or would you rather pluck your eyelashes out?

In the latest Rue Magazine, you will find a beautiful space, designed by my great friend, Caitlin Flemming. She did a FANTASTIC job on this condo project. I’m seriously addicted to the desk image. It’s the perfect mix of modern and character. Amazing job Caitlin!!
