A few weeks back, I told you that I partnered with Delta® Faucet for a Day of Inspired Design. This event in Chicago helped me find inspiration that I needed for my powder room off of my family room. Now, you may recognize this space and recall that we had already renovated when we moved in last year. Well, as much as I loved it, some of the items were temporary fixes. Yes, I admit that we have done some “temporary changes” in the home, but that’s what my husband gets for marrying a designer! I am definitely not afraid of changing things up, even when they feel permanent.
This was the powder room when we first bought the home. It needed some MAJOR love and encouragement. We slowly started renovating it with the by adding wallpaper and a new toilet.
One item that we needed asap was a new vanity. In fact, the vanity that we used for a few months was my daughter’s desk from Ikea. No joke! We needed a small vanity for this space and quickly thought of that piece. The only problem was that it had no storage. So we looked for something more practical. I chose this Ikea vanity in light oak for a clean look. And because I decided to use the Delta Zura™ faucet, I wanted to pair it with clean lines.
That leads me to the Zura™ faucet. How awesomely art deco is this beauty?!? And because I have black and white floral wallpaper in this bathroom, I wanted to use a sleek faucet as that would be the perfect juxtaposition to the pretty flowers. For me, it’s all about contrast. Wonderful, deep contrast. Paired with this vessel sink, I’m in love.
Because this bathroom is TEENY with no window, I wanted everything to feel light and airy. You don’t need to fill a small space like this up too much, but you do need to offer your guests exactly what they need when visiting the loo.
Powder rooms should be little beacons of light. You can think outside of the box and don’t not worry about making a mistake in such a small space. Don’t be afraid to paint it a dark color or use a dramatic wallpaper pattern. And with Delta Faucet on our side, bathrooms now can be works of art, rather than stuffy, ugly spaces.
