I am obsessed with color. I love filling a space with color. And besides that, I love finding new shades of colors. Paint is an important key to changing the way a room feels. It can make you feel happy, sad, jittery and even calm. Color has the power to send emotions that we didn’t know we had. I recently styled a shared girls bedroom and the first thing that we did was paint the back wall this gorgeous pink color from Pratt and Lambert. The color is called Carob (2-23), and it almost feels more like a rosie grey. I’m obsessed.
Now, what made this paint job a lot quicker and easier for me were the tools that I used. Have you ever grabbed the cheapest paint brush at the store only to find that it’s not going on the wall evenly at all?? I’ve been there multiple times and it’s not until I actually invested in good brushes that I figured out the need for them. If you haven’t used Purdy painting tools, you are missing out!
Purdy began in a small garage in Portland, Oregon in 1925. They have been committed ever since to making only the best tools for the most successful painting experiences ever since. You can find brushes, rollers and accessories on their website to fit every project need. My favorite part is that each brush is hand crafted with a sticker including the initials of the person who made it. How cool is that? The quality and durability is unbeatable!
For this room, I used a variety of brushes and rollers to quicken the process. Because there are some narrow spots in on this wall, I needed a more narrow brush. I used the XL 1.5” and it was perfect for cutting in around the small corners of the room! Purdy brushes come in different combinations of filaments to complete every job. They also come in a variety of alder wood styles to suit your preference.
I mean, how beautiful is this color??! It looks amazing mixed with the mustard and forest green textiles. And because a teenage girl and elementary aged girl both reside here, I was able to have some girly fun with the styling.
An extra tip for bedding is to go a little more simplistic instead of filling the bed with too many pillows. The design of the bedroom can breathe a little more.
Thank you Purdy for making this project so easy for me!! I look forward to using your tools for years to come.
