We have a plethora of throw blanket options at my house. Furry blankets, soft blankets, little blankets…many blankets. My most recent blanket to join this massive collection is this gorgeous Happy Habitat blanket by Karrie Kaneda. It is my all time favorite! The quality is undeniable. It’s the perfect snuggle blanket yet still looks beyond stylish.

I put some birds on my walls the other day. While shopping at one of my local antique shops, I found these cute bird prints that were originally a calendar. I attached them to the wall with a simple strip of washi tape. It was an easy way to add some great art!
Most everything on the buffet is thrifted. The small vase is Ferm Living and tall glass vase is Serena and Lily.
Fall is here and cold weather is upon us. Well, most of us anyways. In my home, I don’t necessarily decorate with autumn tones, like red, burnt orange and brown. Instead, I focus on textures (fur, cable knit, wool) and dark tones (gray, black, chocolate brown) in my accessories to create a fun, moody space. Today, on the AvalonBay Communities blog, I am sharing how to add those warm textures to your space to keep you and your family feeling toasty warm, whether physically or just emotionally.
First off, adding sheepskin rugs not only adds coziness, but a stylish look to any space. In the image above, you can see that in my previous home, I used a small sheepskin rug to warm up a normally chilly leather chair. Adding sheepskin rugs to dining chairs is another great use for these trendy accessories.
Read on for the remaining tips on the AvalonBay Communities blog. See you over there!
I am so excited to share with you a glimpse into my Thanksgiving tablescape from last year. It is always fun to look back and get inspired by projects you have done in the past. It is hands down one of my favorite tables I have ever done. Yellow mums, polka dots, and gold accents are just a few pieces that were included. I’ll be hosting Thanksgiving again this month, it will be a blast of a time!
There are some little changes happening in the Simply Grove household. With fall here, I wanted to add some cozy details. Besides my mini pumpkins proving fall has come, I have added a lamp, throw, and candle all from Pottery Barn.
The Photographer’s Task Table Lamp has been quite a hit in my household. My kids enjoy reading books under it before bed and the lamp adds an industrial feel to my soft living space. The Flameless Mercury Candle Pot fits in great with my other decor. I always always ALWAYS have candles lit in my office, but you can never be too safe when you have littles playing and wrestling in the living room. This candle lights up and gives off the perfect glow at night.
For my most favorite new accessory, the Crochet Knit Trim Throw is soft, neutral, and gives a vintage appeal that only a very special great grandma’s knitting could do. You can’t find a timeless throw, brand new, like this very often. I’m oh so in love!

I recently installed Lutron’s Maestro Occupancy/Vacancy Sensing C·L Dimmer in our home’s entryway. If you missed the fun video, see it here. I wanted to give you an update on the dimmer and my post installation thoughts. First, the dimmer was very easy to install, if I can do it- you can! Second, it has been beneficial to my family in so many ways. My kids tend to leave the lights on (don’t most kids??), so the timed lighting is perfect for us. When I am carrying groceries and mountains of things left behind in the car after running errands, turning the light on is the last thing I can manage to do. It is so nice to have the lights come on when we open the door, as if we are being welcomed home. Thirdly, it is just icing on the cake that we have noticed some savings in our electricity bill. If you’ve considered lighting updates you have Simply Grove’s seal of approval on this family friendly and effortless LUTRON addition.

Yesterday I Instagrammed this picture from our previous home. We moved from this home to our existing home almost 3 years ago. A lot has happened in 3 years including my aesthetic changing and maturing a bit. One element that I do miss and sincerely loved were my white floors in this space. Yes, they were a little tricky to keep clean. (Mostly because of the wood and treatment that we used. There are treatments that make white floors a breeze to keep clean and use. If I did white floors again, I now know the correct way to do them.) But there is something so special and airy about white floors. They keep a space from looking drab and dark. My husband and I joke about how this is the ONLY thing we miss from our previous home. Not enough to make us stay.
What are your thoughts on white floors? Do you currently have them?
I don’t use a lot of red in my house but when I saw these flowers in my garden, I needed to display them quickly in my home! I love how they look with the patterned red pillow on my sofa.
Are you a fan of red in your interior decor?
Lately on Instagram: I was in Seattle earlier this week finishing up some projects. One project that I can’t wait to show you is simple, clean design. Here’s a sneak peek of the bedroom.
While in Seattle, my Aunt and I visited a Penthouse that Barbara Barry designed. She used lots of color throughout the space. My Aunt is a Barbara fan so it was fun to tour this space with her.
The weather has been perfect here in Boise. We had to celebrate with smoothies and the park.
I cannot wait to show you what I’ve been doing to the kids room! Hayneedle and I have been having some fun.
My newest addiction is Printic! It’s the easiest way to print and share photos straight from your iPhone. You just need select your pictures, not only from your iPhone but also from Facebook and Instagram, crop them, select your recipients and then they deal with the rest. They print and deliver these vintage-themed pictures right in your friends’ mailboxes (or yours). It’s so fast and fun. And CHEAP!

Have an amazing weekend and Happy almost Mother’s Day!! xxoo

I’m LOVING this color palette.
I’m so excited to be included in the latest Rue Magazine, Pacific Northwest Edition. I’m giving you all a peek into my newly designed bedroom. And because our bedroom is a favorite spot for the whole family, this feature includes my gorgeous kids and my extra hot hubby. See the entire feature here.
I’ll be posting more images that weren’t included in the feature later this week. Also, the entire issue is packed full of greatness! 2 of my favorite Boise girls are included as well. Yay!
Recently I joined forces with Hayneedle.com to do a little update on my office. I’m excited to say that it’s finally completed! You can see more and read more here.
When I started re-doing my office, I had a plan of action for my baroque mirror. I almost gave it away, just because I’m a little over this trend. But after seeing Martha Stewart’s new project paints, I knew that this mirror needed a little copper pick me up. I used the metallic glaze in copper penny and I love the result! It’s super pretty yet a little edgy and it fits in with my office design perfectly! I’m also a huge fan of Martha Stewart Project Paints. They come in 10 oz. jars, which is great because you’re not waisting a bunch of paint. You can choose between crackle, glitter, metallic glaze, metallic, textured metallic and terra cotta and they all come in a variety of colors. I’m pretty sure that I need to try glitter next!
So if you have a mirror or a frame that needs a little re-do, try this! You’ll love it.

Hi friends. I updated my portfolio a bit and will be updating it more as the weeks follow. I feel like I have pictures scattered all over my computer, flickr, my blog and everywhere else except for displayed where they should be. Better late than never, right??!
On another note, I wanted to give a few of my amazing sponsors a shout out! If you haven’t shopped these sites yet, you MUST!
Mod Pieces– Restyled vintage lighting.
Rove Concepts– Affordable yet amazing furniture.
Lile Sadi– Super cool home accessories and textiles.
Also, I’m restructuring Simply Grove a bit. Some might say, out with the old and in with the new!! Looking over my editorial calendar, I’ve noticed holes. Balancing being a mom and working for myself has proven itself challenging but sooo doable. I say that to say, the more I’m in this role, the more I’ve learned this year and constantly want to grow. SO, you’ll be seeing new columns, more of my voice and hopefully fresh perspectives on design. And PLEASE, if there is anything that you wish to see on SG, let me know! Comment or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you back here next week!
I wanted to share a sneak peek of my office that I’ve been re-doing for the past few days. It’s coming together nicely! I still have alot to do including styling, potting, organizing ect ect ect. I found some great decor objects yesterday while thrifting, including that awesome gold plated boat and the woven tray. The light on the desk is one of my husbands creations. I love the industrial look and I love the fact that there is no cord hanging off the desk.
Christmas came really early for me this week. I was doing the happy dance upon receiving the Faribault Virgin Wool Lodge Blanket from Kaufmann Mercantile. This picture of my bedroom does no justice for how beautiful and BIG the blanket is. I’m pretty excited to be re-doing my bedroom and this blanket along with other new bedding was the first step in that direction.

Have a great weekend, friends!! xxoo
