Hi friends! I’m excited to be participating in the One Room Challenge. Over the next six weeks, twenty Interior Design bloggers will completely transform a room from start to finish, blogging progress updates every Wednesday. The One Room Challenge was started a few years ago by Linda of Calling it Home. It’s a fantastic idea that I am thrilled to be apart of! So here’s the breakdown of my ORC-
Client– My assistant, Janna.
Room– Master Bedroom.
Challenges– Small yet quaint space.
Features– Lots of windows and natural light.
Needs– Updated furniture. Fresh, modern colors. Art. New bedding and accessories.
Below is a peek of what I’m planning to do. It’s going to be a fresh and clean space with lots of artistic details and beautiful textiles. One key element will be a striking, deep, accent wall that will hopefully take our breathes away!
Check back next Wednesday for WEEK TWO’s update! And make sure to check out the other bloggers participating in this challenge, listed below. Also follow along on Instagram using #oneroomchallenge
There is one whole area of the studio that I use for photo shoots. I placed diamond wall panels from Wall Dimensions on the north side of that area. I wanted something that would give dimension to the white walls since the south side of that area is boring and has no furniture or decor. With a little styling of old and new pieces, it became a stylish wall.
We’ve lived in our Bungalow for 7 months now and I’m finally settling in to my basement studio. We painted the entire room white a few months. And what a difference it made! I chose Sherwin Williams Extra White on the walls. It immediately created the ambiance that I need for this space.
I have 3 zones in my office. A sitting zone, working zone and photo shoot zone. I wanted a comfortable sitting area that was modern and stylish. This sofa and chair fit perfectly. IFN MODERN specialize in Mid Century Modern Reproduction Furniture with extremely high quality but at affordable prices. If you’re a fan of the Barcelona chair, they have you covered. Glass X Candleholder
Fall is here and quickly going by. If you are doing any type of fall entertaining, you know how important it is to create a festive table scape. Nate Berkus has made that easy for us this season! His entire collection, featured exclusively at Target, is amazing. My favorite detail is how you can use most of the pieces in any of the four seasons. They are practical yet beautiful. Each piece was thoughtfully created to make a stylish statement for any party, gathering or even just for an everyday mantel. One of Nate’s personal favorite pieces is the glass X candleholder. “These taper candle holders give just enough elevation to mix with your smaller votives and hurricanes without obstructing views across the table.” – NB
An easy decorating tip for your table is to cut things from your yard. Whether it’s greenery or flowers, creating the perfect atmosphere is just a scissor cut away! I have the most beautiful orange berry tree in my yard that is perfect for the fall season. I placed the branches in simple clear vases, in different heights. So easy and FREE!
I usually opt for white dishes when entertaining. You can pair them with anything. Nate has the perfect white textured diamond dinnerware set. I love when dinnerware is textured. It brings interest and drama, even if it’s bright white.
Can we talk about this bowl?? This decorative leaf bowl can be used to display anything pretty. It’s my most favorite piece in this entire collection!
Thank you Nate Berkus for making fall entertaining so easy for us!
More of this collection that you shouldn’t live without- Metal Wing Bowl, Table Runner, Antique Mirror Tray, Metal Feather Box, White Facet Vase, Dessert Plate Set.
All photos shot and styled by me.

I wanted to give you a little glimpse into my living room. The Grove Bungalow is coming along! Projects are slowly being completed and rooms are beginning to look more look livable spaces and less like storage rooms. I love myself a good project but sometimes I would rather snap my fingers and see everything completed at once. Anyways, I will post more images as they come. Hope you are having a fantastic Wednesday!

I am working on a bathroom reno right now. The homeowners are good friends of mine that live in a 1920’s farmhouse on the outskirts of Boise. It’s an amazing amazing home that deserves a super cool bathroom. Large hexagon tiles have been on my mind a lot lately! Specifically black tiles with white grout. There is something so classy yet modern about these tiles. And mixed with the traditional subway tile…heaven.
Some other bathroom trends that are taking over right now?

1. Round Mirrors. Forget the normal rectangular mirrors and opt for a round mirror. Ikea has my favorite option right now! Shop it here.
2. Dark grout. It’s everywhere right now! And who wouldn’t love dark grout?? It hides dirt!

3. Floating vanities. It’s like they are floating in the air. You can’t get more classy than this!

4. Brass Accents. I couldn’t leave this one out. Don’t think of brass as your grandmothers brass. Think of it as a rediscovered material that is back and is being done right this time.
Do you what to know what the easiest DIY is?? Painting a plain desk lamp in gold. It’s the simplest desk lamp DIY that there has ever been! I’ve done it 3 times with 3 different gold tones and each time it completely changed the lamp for good. Last week Elise gave us an amazing tripod lamp DIY that was painted in a pretty gold. It really is an easy solution for great design!
All you need is gold spray paint for this DIY. Make sure that you remove the bulb and cover up the cord, unless you want your cord to be gold. I always do a few coats. That way if it chips, it’s gold underneath. EASY CHEEZY!!!

I mentioned last week that I’ve been fortunate enough to be helping out with a local project that is pretty awesome. The Owyhee has been an iconic hotel in Boise for over 100 years. Today, it is being thoughtfully redesigned and restored, enhanced with modern touches. The Owyhee is being converted to feature 36 modern rental apartments, a revitalization of the banquet facilities, 60,000 beautiful square feet of modernized office and retail space, and a reopened rooftop terrace. It’s epic!
My first assignment for The Owyhee was styling their model apartment. I wanted to create modern apartment decor in this space. It was a fun project, showing how a youthful individual can make these stylish apartments their own. You will recognize pieces from Target, West Elm, Urban Outfitters and a few other spots. I also scored some awesome vintage finds at Boise Vintage.
Did I mention that I styled the entire space in 10 hours?? It was a whirlwind event!

School is out, the sun is out and my kids are already bored! Haha. Any parents relating right now? Being a work at home mom, this can be a challenge so I’m strategizing lots of summertime activities. This happens every summer. But it really does force me to be creative. Anyways, that’s my mini summer rant. Have the best weekend and I will see you next week!
Summer color in your home. My favorite room in my home. How to use brass and gold accents in your kitchen.
I know that you’ve seen quite a few images of my bedroom recently. Mostly because I’ve been putting a lot of attention into creating exactly what I want for my bedroom. I’m loving my latest addition, the Imperfect Plus Duvet Cover from Schoolhouse Electric. The fern-green plus signs are designed by Portland artist Ashley Goldberg. I’m totally digging this look! And I’m digging the mix of the plus signs and striped sheets, also from Schoolhouse Electric. Thank you Schoolhouse Electric for being awesome!

This week I did some styling for the Owyhee in Boise. The thoughtfully re-designed and restored Owyhee has been converted to feature 36 modern rental apartments as well as a bunch of other awesomeness! Anyways, I got to have a hand with styling one of the new apartments. I’ll post more images in the weeks to come.
See you next week!!
I’m also over here and here.
I hope you all had a fantastic week and an even better weekend! Next week is a brand new week full of endless possibilities and new beginnings!
BTW, do you love my new Schoolhouse Electric brass sconce? I can’t get enough of them!
I am also over here, here and here.
I’ve come to realize something in life. Color creates moods, and very specific moods. If you know my style, I do not shy away from color. Saying that, I am very specific and picky with color because of the moods and vibes they give off. For instance, you say green and I say, what shade and hue of green? It can’t be just any green. It has be a super specific green. And speaking of green, that’s exactly the color that I chose for National Painting Week. When Sherwin-Williams asked me to choose a color, Hazel jumped at me! It’s exactly what I want in a green. It’s light, airy, pastely and just plain pretty. The only questionable detail was what I did with this glorious color. I decided to turn a side table that I already owned into a colorful furniture piece for my living space.
As you can see, the table was not in bad condition. It just needed a little pick me up. I bought it a few years back on clearance of clearance of clearance at a local home store. I can’t even remember what the original color was because I’ve repainted it so many times. I’ve never been satisfied with the outcome… until now.
I mean, you have to admit, that is a pretty color!! In fact, someone needs to paint cabinets or an accent wall in this color. Heck, even this on hardwood floors would be stunning.
I am so happy with how this quick and easy project turned out. It just proves again that a little paint can go along way!
