How many small bathrooms in the world have no character? How many owners of small bathrooms have given up hope for creating a stylish space? Well, I have some secrets for you. Some tips that will help you create the perfect small bathroom. My first secret may be a shock. Painting your small bathroom a deep, dark, rich color will not only create a stylish bathroom but a dramatic space that allows for some great styling to make the most of your small space.
Recently we did a bathroom makeover that proves this point. We took an alley bathroom that belongs to SG contributor, Janna Smith, and we painted it a dramatic color. We chose Essex Deep Green (20-17) from Pratt & Lambert. Without making any permanent changes, this paint color changed this bathroom in minutes! It now looks clean, modern and up to date without spending hardly anything.
This bathroom was very average before. It felt boring and normal. Don’t get me wrong, I love white! But sometimes white can look too sterile.
The after is vibrant and cozy. The paint went on so smoothly and the color looks fantastic paired with brass, greenery, white and black. We used Pratt & Lambert’s Accolade® Premium paint & primer which allowed us to paint the whole bathroom in only one coat and is stain and scrub resistant.
Another tip for a small bathroom is to add brass for a sophisticated look. It creates a million dollar look. This simple round brass trimmed mirror from Target costs pennies and looks lovely against the Pratt & Lambert’s Essex Deep Green 20-17 paint color.
When using a dark color in your bathroom, use white linens for added airiness. I always use white towels and if need be, a white shower curtain.
Bathrooms can be easy to style, mostly because you can find such pretty bottles, ceramics and other objects for budget friendly prices. Also, use jewelry for added style in your bathroom.
Your bathroom can reflect your style without draining your bank account. Rely on paint for a big change! Pratt & Lambert carries some of the most beautiful colors that can change your home immediately.
Happy painting!

It’s beautifully done! That colour is magic! Unfortunately I can’t really do this in my small bathroom as I have no window and so absolutely no natural light (the door faces the corridor and so it’s a very dark corner) so I think I’m gonna stick with a light colour scheme but boy will I consider it if I ever move to a place with a bathroom with windows!
Oh its so pretty! Crazy what one color can do! 🙂 Thank you so much for the inspiration.
