Since I’m on a roll with showing you projects from my home, I thought I’d continue the party and introduce you to our bathroom renovation! This was by far our trickiest project at this home. There were a few plumbing issues that had to be addressed before continuing on. Also, if you notice, the shower isn’t completely finished yet. We still need to insert a glass shower wall. But besides that, I love my bathroom!
You can see from the before and afters, that this was a really gross and dark bathroom. The walls were a mix of yellow and lavendar, the linoleum floors had been through too much and the fixtures were all old and non functioning. It needed an entire gut job. We focused on brighting everything up and creating a hotel inspired bathroom. We wanted to keep it the same square footage and the same layout, so we focused on switching out EVERYTHING.
I partnered with Kohler to create a modern vanity using their tailored vanities. I chose the Jute vanity with hairpin legs. It feels like we used a large credenza and converted it into a vanity, which is exactly what I wanted. We added this pull and knob from Threshhold at Target for a more custom look. For the sinks, we went with Chord from Kohler.
Can we just talk about the tile for a bit?! Stone Impressions has a breathtaking selection of tiles and stones. I chose the Alston Tribecca Beige Carrara Hexagon for the floor and Carrara field tile for the shower walls. I also chose this penny tile for the cut out in the shower. I LOVE patterned tile and could have really gone crazy in this space, BUT I wanted the floors to really shine and the shower to compliment what was happening on the floors. I also love that this is a play off of the always trendy hexagon. It’s a little more subtle in it’s shape because of the pattern.
For all of the finishes, I chose Kohler’s Purist collection in brushed gold. I’m a fan of this collection, and will always be a fan!
The original bathroom vanity was wrapped in mirrors. Honestly, I love it! I love how it reflects light in this small space and I also love the functionality of it. I can see myself in all angles, which is scary some mornings. I was really choosy about the bathroom lighting, because it would reflect throughout the space. In the end I chose the Alto Rod 6″ from Cedar & Moss. I give these lights ALL the heart eyes!! We also had a few recessed lights installed that added much needed light.
For the shower floor, we went to our local Home Depot and grabbed a few sheets of this simple white square porcelain tile. It was budget friendly and I love how it looks in the shower. It brings a sharp, modern feel.
So there you have it, folks. Our bathroom renovation is FINALLY complete! Now all we have left is our kids bathroom….oh boy.
