Bedside Table Styling

I’m a big believer that the bedroom is the sanctuary of the home. It should feel relaxing and inviting…the kind of space you want to curl up in and stay for awhile. And just as important as picking out the right pillows or choosing the perfect sheets, styling your bedside table is a very necessary piece of the design puzzle. In a way, it’s the ideal finishing touch, like putting a cherry on top of a sundae. Without it the room just feels a little empty and incomplete. In fact, this is the opportune time to show off your favorite plants, beautiful ceramics, or a well-designed lamp. If you’re looking for more styling inspiration, check out a few of my favorite ideas below…

If you’re squeezed for space or dealing with tight corners, opt for something minimal like a stool. It keeps the room visually open and offers just enough space to add a cute little succulent and a small stack of books. This is also the perfect opportunity to choose either wall mounted lighting above your table or a unique hanging pendant.

Floating bedside shelves are always a good idea in my book. They’re modern, unobtrusive, and they provide additional storage. Not to mention the fact that they’re sturdy enough to support a great art print next to the bed. Brass wall sconces are the perfect compliment.

Be sure to match your proportions! If you choose a slender bedside table, don’t overload with a clunky lamp and too many objects. Keep things sleek and simple. I love that the lamp in this scenario almost appears to be an extension of the table itself. Great design yields great results.

If sophistication is what you’re after, a monochromatic color scheme is the way to go. In this case, varying shades of white from the wall sconce, flowers, and marble tabletop really pop against a charcoal gray wall.

Don’t pass up the chance to bring the outside in. I’m happy the whole tree stump trend is going strong and I really hope it sticks around. The result is rustic, organic, and just plain lovely. Topping it with a little greenery is the best choice…naturally (no pun intended).

  1. These all look so lovely. I especially love the first photograph, the plant and natural light seem like the perfect way to wake up.
