I wanted to add some family pictures in our master bedroom, but not in an overwhelmingly blunt fashion. I tend to appreciate toned down approaches to the family gallery wall. For our bedroom, I decided to sprinkle pictures of my kids within a wall of art. I have many pictures that mean the world to me, so I chose my favorites and hung them randomly within pieces of art. I love how it turned out. It feels organic and personal.
When creating a gallery wall with family photos, it’s important to play with levels. Playing with levels in this way creates wonderful moments, like displaying this image of the kids when they were little right underneath one of my favorite desert paintings. It’s all about the unexpected ways to build layers into your design and add depth to your room.
There’s a lot happening on this wall, but the simple white backdrop makes every piece feel very deliberate and the entire wall, well organized. The mixed mediums create a great layered sense of texture on the wall. One last tip is you’ll want to pull out a level. Making sure that every frame is straight is very important to providing a sense of structure.
