Do you ever dream of having a little vacation cabin by the lake? Lately it’s been at the top of my wishlist. My husband and I have been wavering back and forth between wanting to add onto our home or eventually buying a vacation cabin in the woods. I never thought I’d say it… but I think the cabin may be winning.
Previously, I was always in favor of investing more into the place where we spend the most time. But the more comfortable I get with the current size of our house, the more I start envisioning a cozy retreat where our family can enjoy the summers, as well as the winter holidays. Granted, it won’t happen for a while. But there’s no harm in gathering a little inspiration in the meantime, right?
Aren’t these modern bunk beds terrific?? Sleeping quarters for extra guests is a must, and these tucked away bunks are the perfect solution for a smaller space.

An open stairwell helps this space feel bright and expansive. And the tone of the wood cladding keeps with the rustic vibe without veering into “country cabin” territory.

I love the simplicity of this built-in storage. It pairs wonderfully with all the soft textiles and shapes going on here. It’s very laid-back and casual, yet still intentional.

Just because you’re in a cabin doesn’t mean it has to feel like one. If you’re wanting luxe, this is the way to go. The mix of lighter woods, concrete, and black steel framing is so spot on. And a Hans Wegner chair is always a nice little addition.
Matching the kitchen cabinets to the tone of the ceiling trusses is such a smart move. It create uniformity and helps the space to flow nicely. And that view! Not bad at all.
