The time has come! The day is upon us! We’ve finally arrived! I present you my One Room Challenge REVEAL! I am stoked about this space! Hence the many explanation points…!!
First, a quick reminder of the process. The One Room Challenge is a six week event hosted by Linda of Calling It Home and her media partner, House Beautiful. Bloggers selected a room to make-over and each week, the progress of the make-over is revealed. Today, all of this comes to a culmination with the final reveal.
Here it is, folks! If you follow me on Instagram Stories, you know that I did this room for my in-laws, whom I adore. These two give sacrificially to everyone else, but themselves. So to do a full room makeover for them has been a dream. You may remember the before. A very nice sized living space, but lacking a few things. First, it was lacking updated furniture. Second, it was lacking natural light. And third it was lacking functionality. I wanted to create a space that they could entertain family and friends without feeling smothered. They are both social and love gathering people, so they needed a room to match that.
The plan was to start by emptying the room out and selling most of the furniture. Everything was sold on Craig’s List or given to friends. Following that, my father in law removed all of the popcorn ceiling and painted the entire room in Farrow & Ball’s All White, which changed the ENTIRE SPACE! After that, he installed Metrie’s lattice and flat stock. Once installed, it got painted in Inchyra Blue, also by Farrow & Ball. I know that I stress this a lot, but paint changes everything! White allows you to breathe better while a dark moody color can set the tone nicely. Once everything was painted, we began filling it with furniture and accessories…my FAVORITE PART!
The furniture is definitely a shining moment in this space. Each piece works magically together. The Article sofa was the beginning of my furniture selections. It became the anchor of the room. What I love about this sofa is that it can translate from modern to traditional by simply adding accessories around it. Also, the color is spot on! It can be paired with so many other colors.
From there, I chose quite a few accent tables from Overstock, including the coffee table, marble side table and gold side table. Accent tables are more important than we think. I’ve seen a beautiful room with the wrong coffee table, and it become a kill joy. All three of these tables reflect the style of this space.
Speaking of reflecting the style, this rug from The Mine pulled this look together by creating a nice backdrop for the brass accents. It’s also a nice, large size and filled up the entire room. My in laws are eventually updating the flooring, but for now this rug is the perfect bandaid! Also, my favorite pop of color is this vintage rug from Corre Marie that is layered on the large rug. Layering rugs is my 411.
Hello beautiful! One shining piece in this room is the buffet from The Mine. The simple brass detail in the wood is stunning. It’s a beautiful piece that houses the TV, which was graciously gifted to my in laws from some wonderful friends who wanted to be apart of this makeover! I LOVE when people come together to bless one another. There is still SO much good in the world. Let’s not forget that.
For the art, I found these Botanical Prints from Bellacor, as well as this gold mirror. I also used pieces that my in-laws already owned. My father in law even painted one of them! I also used a large macrame piece from Simply Grove Shop. I, of course support that decision fully…!
Let’s talk about the lighting. I think it’s my favorite thing about this room! The pendant is from Craftmade. I give it 10 thumbs up! I love the organic wood element. I’m also obsessed with this floor lamp from The Mine. It’s the perfect combination of modern and classic. Together these two pieces make a big statement!
I wanted to create a couple of options for seating arrangements. The room has such nice, big windows, so I chose to place two lounger chairs from Overstock in front of the windows. It’s a nice spot to land in the mornings with a cup of coffee. I also created another duo seating spot next two the sofa, using these two linen arm chairs, which are also from Overstock. For a couple who loves to entertain, lots of seating options was important!

The accessories are always an important detail for me. One of the coolest details in this whole room is the Jill Rosenwald High Fiver Copper Bowl in Mink that they custom made just for this room! I emailed them with my ceramic and color choice and they whipped this beauty up in no time. Such a fun item to have in this room.
Also, two of the gorgeous pillows on the sofa came from Arriana Belle. I chose Navy Blue velvet and Pyne Hollyhock Charcoal. I love the texture and pattern that both of them give to the sofa. She has SO many options to choose from!
Welp, there you have it! It was a true honor to do this room. I hope you enjoyed the transformation!
Thank you to my amazing sponsors!
